# Overview

GLS Connector 26.13.40.0 for Business Central: features, entry points, the recommended path to your first shipment, and clear limitations.

The GLS Connector connects Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to the GLS shipping API. You create packages from sales orders, transmit them to GLS, and receive the track ID and shipping label directly in Business Central. This documentation guides you from setup through your first complete shipment to everyday variations and troubleshooting.

## Where to find the app

You can reach the shipping features through search, the Role Center and directly from your sales order:

* **Search (Alt+Q):** **GLS Packages**, **GLS Shipping Wizard** and **GLS Configuration**.
* **Order Processor Role Center:** the **GLS Shipping** section with packages, shipping wizard, direct shipments, parcelshop finder, boxes and configuration.
* **Business Manager Role Center:** packages, API call log and configuration.
* **Assisted Setup:** **Set up the GLS Connector** and **Create GLS boxes**.
* **Sales order:** the actions **GLS Shipping**, **Distribute Items to Packages**, **Create Multiple Packages**, **Smart Packing**, **Upload Packages to GLS**, **Print GLS Labels** and **Find GLS Parcelshop**.

## Recommended path to your first shipment

1. Check the [Prerequisites and Compatibility](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/prerequisites-and-compatibility.md).
2. Clarify [Licensing and Plans](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/licensing-and-plans.md) and assign the [permissions](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/installation-and-permissions.md).
3. Complete the [Setup](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/setup.md) in a Business Central sandbox with GLS sandbox credentials.
4. Create [boxes and item data](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/setup/boxes-and-items.md).
5. Ship a test order by following the [Quick Start](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/quick-start.md).
6. Only then switch to production in a controlled way.

## What the connector does not do

* No electronic customs declaration, no CN23, and no generation or transmission of PDF commercial invoices.
* No dedicated Universal Print integration; printing uses the standard print options of your Business Central environment.
* No ongoing polling of the delivery status; tracking opens the GLS link in the browser.
* No comparison with other carriers; the tariff calculation uses your locally maintained tariffs and is not a live GLS price.
* Deleting a package locally does not cancel the shipment at GLS.

Your GLS contract determines which products, services, countries and hazardous goods you are actually allowed to use. Enabling a feature in Business Central does not replace this approval.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.solutioo.de/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
