# Uninstallation and data consequences

Before uninstalling, back up labels and packages, resolve open shipments and make a deliberate decision about what happens to the data.

This page helps you remove the app in an orderly way without losing shipping information you still need.

## Before uninstalling

1. **Resolve open shipments:** In **GLS Packages**, check which packages have been uploaded but not yet shipped. Cancel shipments you no longer need with **Cancel Parcel**.
2. **Back up labels:** Download the labels you need with **Download Label**.
3. **Back up packages and track IDs:** Export the **GLS Packages** list, for example to Excel.
4. **Back up logs:** If necessary, export the **API Call Log**.
5. **Back up tariffs:** Keep your tariff workbooks.
6. **Check box inventory:** Resolve any pending box inventory reductions.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Deleting packages or removing the app does not cancel any shipment at GLS. Shipments that have already been uploaded keep their status at GLS. Arrange any necessary cancellations before you remove the app.
{% endhint %}

## Uninstall

You uninstall the app in Business Central **Extension Management**. Business Central offers options for handling the extension's data. Make a deliberate decision about whether the data should be kept.

The app does not run its own cleanup routine during uninstallation. Which data remains after uninstallation depends on the option you choose in Business Central. We make no further commitment regarding deletion or retention.

## Credentials at GLS

If you will no longer use the connector, deactivate API credentials you no longer need at GLS.

## Retention obligations

Before you remove data permanently, check your internal and statutory retention periods for shipping and customs documents.

## License

Uninstalling does not end a subscription. Cancel or change your license through the channel you purchased it from. See [License and plans](/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/licensing-and-plans.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.solutioo.de/gls-connector/gls-connector_en_us/uninstallation-and-data.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
