# Set Up Catalog and Inventory

These settings define the default behavior for products and inventory.

### Catalog Fields

* Allow Item Upload
* Upload Item Image
* Upload Simple Variants
* Use Model as Configurable
* Upload Bundle Items
* Upload Product Category
* Update Product URL
* Set Item Category According to Magento
* Default Category / Attribute Set / Visibility

### Variant versus Model

**Use Model as Configurable** determines whether a model is used as a Magento parent product. Variant axes are maintained centrally; the older Color/Size fields are deprecated.

### Categories

**Upload Product Category** sends product-category assignments. The default category is the fallback.

### MSI Inventory

* Inventory Sync Mode = Magento MSI
* Upload Inventory
* Upload Variant Inventory
* Allow Update Magento Inventory
* MSI Source → BC Location

{% hint style="warning" %}
Legacy Stock Item is not reliable in this version. Use MSI after a successful mapping test.
{% endhint %}

### Negative Quantities

The **Upload Negative Quantity** toggle does not affect the current MSI upload. Handle negative quantities organizationally.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.solutioo.de/magento-2-api-connector/magento2_en_us/configuration/set-up-catalog-and-inventory.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
