# Setup & Mapping Overview

The Magento Configuration is the central control panel of the connector. For each store, the connection, order behavior, tax logic, customer defaults, catalog options, and inventory mode are maintained.

### Setup Logic

1. Enter the store code, name, URL, and API path.
2. Choose the authentication method and test the connection.
3. Download initial data.
4. Complete the mandatory mappings in the Mapping Hub.
5. Configure order, tax, customer, catalog, and inventory behavior.
6. Review Setup Health and suggestions.
7. Activate the store.

### Mandatory Mappings

* Magento payment method → BC payment method
* Magento shipping method → BC shipping agent
* Magento tax class/rate → BC posting groups
* Magento website selection
* Store View → BC language code
* Magento MSI source → BC location code

Item attributes and variant axes are maintained centrally per web store.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Do not change posting groups, tax mappings, or active store configurations during running synchronizations. Afterwards, test a complete document flow.
{% endhint %}

Mappings carry a web store reference. Check the store filter on mapping lists and in the Download Cockpit.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.solutioo.de/magento-2-api-connector/magento2_en_us/configuration/setup-and-mapping-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
