# Map MSI Sources

Magento **Multi-Source Inventory (MSI)** manages stock per source. The connector links each active Magento source to exactly the designated BC location.

    L1[BC Location A] --> S1[Magento Source A]
    L2[BC Location B] --> S2[Magento Source B]
    S1 --> SKU[SKU / Source Quantity]
    S2 --> SKU
```
### Set Up Sources
{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Download MSI Sources**
In the Download Cockpit, run the **MSI Sources** area.
{% endstep %}
{% step %}
**Open the Mapping List**
Filter **Magento MSI Source Locations** to the correct webshop.
{% endstep %}
{% step %}
**Link Source and Location**
Verify the Magento Source Code, assign the BC Location Code, and activate only sources that are actually used.
{% endstep %}
{% step %}
**Send Test Inventory**
Select an item with a distinct quantity per location.
{% endstep %}
{% step %}
**Compare Quantities**
Cross-check BC item ledger entries, Magento Source Quantity, and salable quantity.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
### Mapping Rules
| Situation                              | Recommendation                                     |
| -------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| One source corresponds to one location | Direct 1:1 mapping                                 |
| Source is not used                     | Deactivate the mapping                             |
| Multiple sources point to one location | Use only deliberately and with quantity validation |
| Magento source is missing              | Re-download sources; do not invent them manually   |
{% hint style="warning" %}
Multiple active Magento sources must not unintentionally use the same BC location. Otherwise, the same available quantity may be reported to Magento multiple times.
{% endhint %}
The **Fallback Order Location** supports order creation when no source can be mapped. It does not replace a complete MSI inventory mapping.
## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.
Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:
```
GET https://docs.solutioo.de/magento-2-api-connector/magento2_en_us/price-and-inventory-management/map-msi-sources.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```
`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
