# Variant Inventory and Negative Quantities

For variants, the salable stock must normally reside on the child SKUs.

### Variant Inventory

**Upload Variant Inventory** enables inventory transfer for variants. Parent and children must be correctly linked.

### Negative Quantities

The MSI routine transmits the calculated quantities. When the quantity is ≤ 0, the status is set to **Out of Stock**.

The configuration toggle **Upload Negative Quantity** is not evaluated in the MSI upload of version 27.10.0.16. Negative quantities may be sent. Prevent this if needed through BC inventory rules or process adjustments.

* Parent without own inventory
* Multiple sources
* Last item in a batch

### Verification

Check each child SKU, Source Quantity, Stock Status, and frontend availability.
