# Initial Catalog Transfer

This guide takes your **complete item catalog** to Shopware in a structured, low-error way. The order of the steps is deliberate so that dependencies are respected (for example, categories before items).

**Make sure the basics are in place**

The connection, the initial data, and the mappings (taxes, currency, sales channel, customer group) must be set up.

**Categories & attributes**

Create or upload your item categories and item attributes.

**Mark items as web items**

Mark the items you want to transfer (using the *Mark All as Web Item* action, or by setting **Web Item = Yes** on each item).

**Maintain pictures & texts**

Add item pictures, marketing texts, and SEO metadata where applicable.

**Test run**

Start by uploading **a small number of items** and check the result in the shop and in the Activity Log.

**Bulk upload**

Transfer the rest using the bulk upload report – ideally outside business hours.

**Prices & inventory**

Finally, upload prices and inventory levels.
